It's known by many names such as "Child's Pose" in yoga or the "Prayer Stretch".  Why is this the best exercise to help relieve lower back pain?

It is the most versatile and gives the quickest pain relief for many different types of back pain.

Exercise For Lower Back Pain That Gives Relief The QUICKEST!

There are a few different versions of this stretch! Try them out to get your lower back pain some relief!

Lower Back Pain On Both Sides Of The Back

  1. Get on all fours (hands & knees)
  2. Rock back toward your heels
  3. Keep your back flat (NOT arched or rounded)
  4. Keep rocking back until you feel a stretch in your lower back
  5. Hold it for a few seconds

Lower Back Pain On One Side Of The Back 

  1. Get on all fours (hands & knees)
  2. Rock back toward your heels
  3. Walk your hands over to the opposite side of the body that doesn't have pain
  4. Feel the stretch

Back Pain When Twisting

  1. Get on all fours (hands & knees)
  2. Put one arm under the opposite armpit
  3. Then try it on the opposite side
  4. (Whatever side feels more restricted, then that is the side you want to stretch!)
  5. Stretch down

Stiffness In Hips/Butt Muscles 

  1. Get on all fours (hands & knees)
  2. Put back in arched position - which shifts the stretch to your hips
  3. Feel the stretch

 

Have Knee Problems & Feel Like You Can't Stay On All Fours (Hands & Knees)  OR At A Place Where You Can't Kneel?

Lower Back Pain On Both Sides 

  1. Find a place to sit comfortably
  2. Lean forward
  3. Rest your arms on your knees
  4. Allow your back muscles to completely relax!
  5. Feel the stretch

Lower Back Pain On One Side

  1. Find a place to sit comfortably
  2. Lean forward
  3. Bring elbow to opposite knee
  4. Feel the stretch
